Our Kids Online ….

Our Kids Online ….

As a kid it was a naughty mag my brother hid and tittered at like a girl with his mates (I think!) and other generally back room, top shelf, dodgy, dirty stuff chaps in trench coats went around hoarding. I assure you today it is much worse than that, and with so many kids online the conversation needs to be had by all of us.

One down …

One down …

One down. I am still digesting the conversation from Tuesday. It is a conversation nearly 3 years in the making and it made me need to take a seat.

Anyone who has gone through Umbrella Pathways will tell you it is not an easy route. It is a long exhausting process and you will need to fight on behalf of your child. You may well have to go toe to toe with a GP to get a referral sent, you will definitely know everyone’s names and direct numbers, and they may even sigh when you call yet again.

Lily and the feathers …

Lily and the feathers …

Mother’s Day is a bitter sweet day for us. Sweet in that we get to make memories with our children, eat great food and spend quality time together. Bitter in that there are children who aren’t with us. Little ones gone too soon that we never got to meet, that we never got to see grow.

My gift from my husband and children this year was just perfect.

Mother’s Day ’17 …

Mother’s Day ’17 …

The one thing I had asked for Mother’s Day this year was not to have to raise my voice. I will have to wait till next year for that one! The loss of an hour, the rush for church, and the usual ‘get your Doodles on!’ slightly manic shout as we all hurried out the door saw shot of that hope.

Family Day March ’17 …

Family Day March ’17 …

The work/life balance is a pain in the rear the vast majority of the time, so we picked the 3rd Saturday of every month to do something together, just the four of us, a designated Family Day. To help decide what we would do we used lollipop sticks numbered 1-12 in a jar. The numbers correspond to an activity we can do together, so it had to be age appropriate for a teen and a pre-schooler.

THE Christmas Shop …

THE Christmas Shop …

It is the first day of the Christmas holidays, and whilst I didn’t spend 2 hours bellowing at the kids to get out the door, I did get to spend it standing outside of Aldi waiting for it to open at 5 to 8 this morning waiting to get started with the Christmas Shop! I know, too rock and roll!

December 1st …

December 1st …

When we were little my Mum never got us a chocolate advent. December 1st saw the three of us deciding whos turn it was to open the first door on a card advent calendar, there was always an argument as to who went first and lots of finger counting to see how many doors we would each get to open. The calendar was always shared between the three of us.
