  • Spending time with our chosen family this weekend and after the longest scwtch, we headed to the beach.

The kids got happy splashing in the water, and I got to stand at the edge of our island.

Now to spend some very overdue time with one of my most favourite humans for the whole weekend.

My heart is very happy right now xx
  • The sun is shining, and the washing is on the line.

It always feels like such an accomplishment to actually be able to hang washing out. Especially in this transitional time of moving from winter to spring.

The days are slowly becoming longer. The chill isn't quite as prevalent in the air. Coats are being swapped for lighter weight jackets. It just feels like brighter in every way.

I've been relearning to lean in on the holistic wellness skills I've developed over the years. Like using oils and practising mindfulness.

Today, I have loaded the landing diffuser up with a soul soothing blend called Calm. I can smell its sweet aroma gently cascading down the stairs. It's the perfect accompaniment to our maths lesson this morning.

As for this afternoon, the plan is to simply feel what we need and go with the flow. We've a couple of things we could do, but we are learning to slow down and see what we need first.

Have a great Thursday x
  • Today has been .. a day!

This afternoon I needed to hit reset and immerse myself in something creative. Something that I could feel a sense of accomplishment over.

I'm glad I did too.

I've just added this deliciously comforting pie recipe to the blog. I made it on Sunday as an alternative to our usual roast dinner.

It is a set and forget pie filling, my favourite. Guinness and steak are the perfect combination in my opinion. Pairing it with flakey pastry and creamy potatoes only adds to its perfection.

So if you're looking for a wholesome bowl of hearty, soul food, head to wifemotherlife.co.uk to grab the recipe.

Give it a go and let me know how you find it. It is a rich one, so less is definitely more!

Bon appetite xx
  • Happiest birthday to my Philip ❤️

An evening out for a curry followed by a slice of homemade carrot and orange cake.

We hope you've felt loved and cherished today, my love ❤️

Now to snuggle down with the latest episode of Picard with a large glass of gin and tonic.

Perfect xx
  • We visited somewhere new and hugged a 250 year old tree.

Canon Ashby is simply stunning and less than half an hour away from us.

The gardens, the house, and the views were breathtaking.

We headed over there on Saturday to enjoy the glorious sunshine and take in some fresh air. It was worth the trip over.

We love visiting new National Trust sites, especially as we are spoilt for choice where we live.

Canon Ashby has roots in the civil war and is speckled with holes from musket fire. The church is on our list to look at for our next visit, which we will be doing with a picnic on another sunny day.

I will say, heading out without coats and all the other cold weather clobber was wonderful!

We even sat on a bench for a little while, basking in the warmth of the sunshine on our necks.

Here's to sunnier days and more tree hugging xx
  • A little stack of loved books.

At the beginning of April, I shared a blog post about all the things we loved in March. Then promotly forgot to share it anywhere else.

So if you fancy a little read of the things we did, places we visited, and what we loved last month, head to the blog at wifemotherlife.co.uk

And let me know what you're reading or where you're visiting this month, too.

Have a wonderful Saturday. I hope the sun is shining for you today xx
  • This weekend marks the one tear anniversary of us beginning our home ed journey.

To mark the occasion, I've shared a little on the blog about why we chose to begin home educating our youngest.

It's a question we get asked a lot, and there isn't a straightforward response.

It was a choice but also wasn't a choice for us.

It was a prayer answered in an unexpected way.

It had been exhausting and rewarding in ways we couldn't have ever imagined.

So, as our boy throws himself into a puzzle, this Good Friday morning. Head over to wifemotherlife.co.uk to have a read about where the journey began, the pain and the prayers behind it all x
  • Muddy knees, rosey cheeks, and a nice hot bath are in order today.

Our boy spent the day playing sports with a holiday club. He cried when I got there to pick him up because he wasn't ready to leave yet. He had made a friend and wanted to stay a bit longer.

We jumped in the car, got home, and drew a hot bath to ease his aching legs, and soak the mud off. Then we snuggled under a blanket with 101 Dalmations to finish.

Tomorrow, we will be taking it a little easier before he is back for round two on Thursday.

The best part was the cuddle he gave me. Little tears in his tired eyes, telling me how much he loved me. And even though he had fun, he was sad a few times that when he wanted to show me what he had done, I wasn't there.

He missed me.

Selfishly, this made my heart sing a little xx
