My youngest and I are always on the lookout for yummy dairy free treats, but they are usually so expensive in the supermarkets that it’s cheaper for me to just make something at home. I haven’t had brownies in forever, and around that ‘special time of the month’ all I want is chocolate. The boy also craves cake, for which he would happily eat his own body weight of the stuff, and let’s face it a little chunk of brownie goes a long way with a 5 year old!
Now I have said it before and I will say it again, meal planning saves time and more importantly money! You can eat like kings on a relatively modest amount of money. The main reason you will save money on a weekly meal plan is because you aren’t having to think of a weeks worth of dinners whilst cruising the supermarket aisles, and you won’t have to make several further trips through the week to get the stuff you ‘forgot’.
So this is my first tagged post and I was quite looking forward to getting stuck in to it. I was tagged by Alana over at Burnished Chaos to complete the following 100 questions as truthfully as possible and I think I have achieved that. So without further a do here are my 100 Truths for the Blogger Tag.
I have shared previously how we do our meal planning. To be honest this is one area we saved the most money over the course of a month. We set a budget of approximately £120 per week, which may seem a lot but trust me when it comes to being ‘free from’ it is not come cheap! We also make most of our meals from scratch, because my hubby is allergic to MSG. You would be amazed at how many foods contain it in some form or another.
Now ordinarily a pre-child Valentine’s Day would have been dinner out with candles, fizz and a huge bouquet of red roses. Once parenthood hits you may get the odd date night out if it happens to fall near the weekend, otherwise you pretty much have to make do at home. All too often that means the night for romance gets shelved until a later date …
As a ‘fixer’ I am the first one making action plans in a crisis and whilst that is a gift in and of itself, it can also be a bit of a curse. Ultimately it leaves me feeling drained, empty and not in a good way. I am so busy fixing for everyone else that I forget myself
I have to say that 2017 was pretty full on, in more ways than one. Looking back at 2017 now I can see a little more clearly the things accomplished, the goals missed and the lessons learned. Whilst a total mixed bag of emotions and events, there were things I would love to do again and things I am more than happy to be leaving in the past!
I am the weirdo who likes to have everything laid out ready over Christmas. I even design a Christmas menu and print it out, and this year it even got laminated! I know, it’s quite sad sounding but I absolutely love doing it. And secretly I think everyone else likes it too.
So here is our Christmas Day menu, you may find inspiration from it or not, you may just be nosey (like me) and want to see what we will be eating, regardless enjoy!
